Communication!

Since quality control and communication are so important to us, we recently created this internal communication manual called the CoWorker Handbook. We often share it with customers in order for you to have some insight into our culture. We over-communicate throughout the job, to provide our customers with integrity, written proof of our exceptional values, and to make things super clear.

Here are some of the plans, designs, 3D renderings and sketches we have provided for clients.

Let's Build and Create Together.

I would love to hear about your project. So, jot down your contact info here and I will get back to you soon.  You can also call the office at 929 337 6099.  Thanks.

Zen Space Makers Inc.

We have worked for Dai Bosatsu Zendo, New York Zendo, Laughing Lotus Yoga, Lucky Lotus Yoga, Kelly's Kidz Playhouse, and others. Founder Sander Hicks built and managed the Vox Pop coffeehouses.

Zen Space Makers, Inc. is a full service, licensed general contractor. Our specialties include design, woodworking, wood flooring, tile, renovations, and new construction. We provide plans from our in-house design team, at a fraction of the cost of an architect. We pride ourselves in unique, space-saving, custom, creative solutions.

We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured. We run a large wood-shop in Maspeth, NY, with two professional spray rooms. We build projects as needed with reclaimed materials and local, handsome, small batch hardwoods.

Clients are welcome to visit our wood-shop at 52-05 Flushing Ave, off Metropolitan Ave, Maspeth, Queens, New York City. No, "Maspeth" is NOT in Long Island. It's in Queens, very near Williamsburg and Ridgewood. We have a unique shop and office overlooking a working freight train line. It's pretty cool.

Zen

Zen is a "back to basics" form of Buddhism.

Zen emphasizes daily practice of "zazen" meditation, to build awareness, and compassion, and to get out of your own noisy head.

Zen and carpentry go great together, because the work becomes safer, and our level of customer service becomes more sensitive to our cient's needs.

Zen Carpentry has done volunteer work for the monastery at Dai Bosatsu Zendo. Our founder, Sander Hicks, was given the Zen name "ShoAn" ("hands of peace") when he took Jukai vows in November, 2014. Zen Carpentry has brought up various personell to "Intro to Zen" weekends, for wonderful experiences. "Intro to Zen" is a great time - and it  is something we recommend everyone do at least once!

Above, are some pictures of the work we have done for different Zen sites. First, some walnut planters we made for Shobo-Ji, here in NYC. Below, some images of DBZ, upstate in the Catskill Mountains. One of our richest experiences was putting on a new steel roof on the giant woodshed.
